Why would you want to have leaders learn to coach? What do coaching skills bring to a leader?
Coaching is one of the most fundamental skills of a leader. It is important that a leader can coach him or herself, that they know how to be at their best more often, they are aware of the impact that they have on others and are able to change to get the most from others as the situation and the people demands. Learning coaching skills enables them to understand how to do this even more effectively and it gives them a tool box of ways in which to do this more easily.
Coaching is about achieving even greater results by taking ownership and responsibility, so learning about coaching helps leaders understand the true nature of taking ownership and how they can inspire others to do the same.
A coach’s job is to inspire others to achieve their best and that is also a critical skill for leaders. Learning how to respond and communicate with others in ways that will help each individual deliver their full potential. Coaching skills enable a leader to be able to quickly and easily identify the best way to connect with their individual team members as well as the team as a whole and then to be able help them grow and develop in ways that maximise their abilities and contribute the most to the team.
Developing coaching skills also enables a leader to be very creative and flexible in the way he or she approaches situations. Coaches need to be able to use all their creativity and questioning skills to help people discover new ways to move forward and to create new possibilities for themselves.
How important would these skills be for your leaders and you? How much more effective would they and you be being able to inspire, communicate and achieve results through the members of their teams and themselves more easily and effortlessly.
